Shine designed and produced animated graphics for Rez Ball. We designed the main title logo and the end title sequence, but that was just part of the project. Headlines, social media posts, podcast graphics, ESPN lower third titles, sweet sixteen bracket diagrams, texts, tweets, emails, blog posts and news headlines and articles were all included to help support the story.
Rez Ball follows the Chuska Warriors, a Native American high school basketball team in New Mexico, as they strive for a state championship after losing their star player. The film delves into themes of community, resilience, and cultural identity.
The "winning sequence" included news headlines, scores, and quotes.
A few of the media graphics: blogs, podcasts, news articles, local news, and The Navajo Times.
Headlines from ripped from the media were designed as massive, graphic titles that supplemented the meteoric rise of the Chuska High School basketball team, fueled with emotion fro the team’s recent loss of Nataanii, their friend and star player.
A lot of the communication between characters occurred though text.
As the team's success rose, so did their presence in social media.
Brackets helped visually tell the story of the Chuska team's rise.
Many other supporting graphics were designed and animated to help tell the story.
The logo and the main on ends used scale to show the context of the story.
The logo and the main on ends used the idea of a grand pullback, starting with the graphics on the court then pulling back on a map of the Southwest.
