Shine collaborated with Tabitha Denholm for Joe Johnston on “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” for Walt Disney Pictures and the The Mark Gordon Company. Footage from a special live action shoot with ballet superstar Misty Copeland and dance phenom Lil Buck was combined with the graphic design and graphic animation to create the cinematic sequences.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms follows Clara, a young girl who is transported to a magical world of four realms while searching for a key to unlock a mysterious gift from her late mother. There, she must unite the realms and defeat the tyrannical Mother Ginger to restore peace and discover her own destiny.
In "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms," the egg is a beautifully ornate object that holds the key to unlocking Clara's late mother's secrets. It symbolizes mystery and discovery, leading Clara on a magical adventure through the four realms, ultimately revealing her true legacy and strength.
The Shine team collaborated on the special main title shoot with Misty Copeland. She portrays the Ballerina Princess with grace and elegance. Her performance is mesmerizing, bringing a blend of strength and beauty to the character. As a pivotal figure in the film, she enhances the magical and enchanting atmosphere of the story.
Lil Buck plays the Mouse King with his amazing dance talents. His unique dance style moves bring a fresh, modern twist to the character, blending street dance with classical elements. His performance adds dynamic energy and innovation to the main-on-end sequence's magical visuals.
The end logo provided an exciting graphic conclusion of this section of the sequence.
Typography with intricate gears and watch-like precision is used to punctuate the main on ends sequence, and transition to the illustrated end crawl.
The end crawl visuals are graphically illustrated and animated, featuring elaborate, animated scenes inspired by the film's four realms. Rich in color and detail, the visuals blend fantastical landscapes with elegant choreography, creating a mesmerizing conclusion that celebrates the movie's magical and whimsical essence.
