Executive Producer Steve Levitan said, “Here’s the bad part about working with Shine: They pitch so many good ideas, you don’t know which to choose. The good part: They’re extremely professional, they’re a joy to work with and, I’m not going to lie to you, they’re easy on the peepers.”
Each family portrait was captured in front of their house.
Shine designed and produced the main title sequence for Modern Family for Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC. The main title, centering around framed portraits of each nuclear family in the story, was shot on location in front of each characters’ house.
The Dunphy house was located near Cheviot Hills. Mitch and Cam’s duplex was near the Fox lot, and Jay and Gloria’s beautiful home was on the westside.
The contrasting voices of Helvetica and Bauer Bodoni seemed to make a statement.
